Speech by Ji Shunjun, Director of the Institute, at the First Meeting of All Staff of the Institute

Hello, colleagues!
Today is the first full staff meeting after the establishment of our institute, and we are also the first batch of people to join the institute. Congratulations and thank you all!
Why do we need to create an institute? What are the goals and tasks of the institute? As the first batch of colleagues to join the institute, how should we take on the responsibilities and missions of this new thing, etc., are the primary issues that we urgently need to face and answer! Let me talk about my views on a few questions.
Why do we need to create an institute?
The chairman said at the annual summary meeting of all employees of the company on January 22: "It has always been a dream of mine to establish an institute." This is the first reason for creating the institute; the second is that our company has been successfully listed, and we need to make some in-depth, broad and long-term considerations and planning. The current industrial structure and future development layout of the company can no longer fully adapt to the better development of the company; the third is the continuous development and updating of science and technology, the emergence of new products, the continuous generation of new topics, the continuous emergence of technical bottlenecks, and the scientific theoretical knowledge encountered can no longer meet the needs of reality. Therefore, we need to create a research institute to allow some people to concentrate on research without distraction. We should not only make breakthroughs in technology, but also use theory to guide practice, forming a leap from practice to theory and practice again!
What are the goals and tasks of the research institute?
On the basis of understanding why we need to create a research institute, we should explain our goals and tasks well. First of all, we should consider the positioning of our research institute. As an enterprise research institute, our positioning is: to focus on applied research, focus on innovative research that is urgently needed by the company and has forward-looking applications, and create an advanced enterprise research institute that organically integrates theoretical innovation and technological innovation. Applied research is actually practical research, that is, the company's technological innovation research. On this basis, we will gradually overcome the insurmountable theoretical gap and finally achieve an integrated development trend of theoretical innovation and technological innovation.
Our goal is to truly build the company into a national-level small giant enterprise with "specialization, precision, specialness and innovation"! What is specialization? It means to make characteristics in the masterbatch industry and become a leading enterprise in the country's fiber masterbatch; what is precision? It means that the products should be fine and exquisite, the process should be refined, the after-sales service should be diligent, and the color matching technology should be perfect; what is special? That is, products should have characteristics, technologies should have special strengths, and R&D should have characteristics; what is new? It means that the company's products should be novel, and innovative products should be constantly changing, so that we can achieve what others do not have and be better than others, have market competitiveness, and constantly have new and novel products to enter the market.
To achieve these goals, our basic conditions have been met: we already have a national fiber functional masterbatch R&D base; a national chemical fiber industry application innovation enterprise; a "Jiangsu Provincial Enterprise Postdoctoral Workstation"; an engineering research center of the Jiangsu Provincial Development and Reform Commission; a provincial high-tech enterprise of the Jiangsu Provincial Commission of Industry and Information Technology; a provincial science and technology center enterprise of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Science and Technology; we have also reached a strategic cooperation relationship with Donghua University and established an industry-university-research cooperation R&D base, a graduate student internship base, etc.
In order to achieve this goal, our tasks are: first, to select outstanding talents in a targeted and planned manner to go to universities, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, national key laboratories and other institutions for targeted talent training to achieve a win-win situation; second, to standardize the management of the current technical development projects of each person, to establish files and cards, to move forward in an orderly manner, to report once every two weeks (group meetings, report with PPT), to talk about experience in failure and experience in success; third, to extract scientific problems and research difficulties from the current R&D projects as the content of further research, some projects can be tackled by focusing on existing personnel, and some can be formed into external R&D projects, through the form of cooperation or the Institute's external open projects, free application, centralized review, and strive to form a batch (no less than 10) of R&D open projects before May (before the Institute is listed). Fourth, the Institute's management requirements should be used to standardize everyone and everything, and everyone should adapt and change roles; participate and make suggestions. The chairman said at the company's annual summary meeting, "Everyone should put down their burdens, think in one direction, and work in one direction. The company will create opportunities for everyone. Only by seizing opportunities can we develop. Opportunities are always reserved for those who are prepared." Our comrades in the research institute must first take the lead in following the instructions of the leaders and strive to seize every opportunity. General Manager Gong of the company also requires: The research institute must work hard on developing new products and produce results as soon as possible! Therefore, we must work hard and everyone must strive to be the first to create excellence! Fifth, before May, we must make breakthroughs based on the existing research and development of topics. For projects that have been cooperated with external parties, there must be a dedicated person responsible for contact, communication, coordination, tracking the progress of the project and summarizing the interim results, and making a special report. Sixth, according to the existing personnel structure and topic needs, we must recruit talents and talents, especially the introduction of master's students, doctoral students and postdoctoral students in the fields of polymer material engineering technology, organic polymer materials and nanomaterials science (recruitment conditions, treatment, job requirements, etc. are set separately).
How should we take on this responsibility and mission?
The goal has been set. We should not forget the original intention of the chairman. We should understand our responsibilities and missions from the following four aspects: First, we should base ourselves on the current conditions of the company and the situation of the R&D projects, be down-to-earth, take one step at a time, take steady steps, seize opportunities, practice our skills, and successfully handle everything in the institute; second, our institute is composed of people of different age structures, different educational levels, and different company experiences. We should help each other, learn from each other, unite and make progress together; third, we should do our own things in different positions and do our own work in different research groups. We should surpass our past and welcome our new future. We should strive to do what we like to do, change what we don’t like to do into what we like to do, and change what we have to learn into what we want to learn. This is difficult and cruel, but very meaningful. Only in this way can we realize our self-worth, realize the value of life, and make our life more exciting! Fourth, we should establish the concept of "everything for the development of the company, for the development of all companies, and for everything for the development of the company". This is the responsibility and mission of each of us. Keep in mind the concept of "the company is my home, development depends on everyone", carry forward the company's eight-character corporate culture spirit of "openness, professionalism, unity, and vigor", keep it in mind, and be familiar with it. The key is to do it, and development is in the business.
